The Importance Of Giving Gratitude

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

I want you to consider something you are grateful for. Just pick anything, it doesn't matter what it is. Once you've picked it, pause for a moment and contemplate the gratitude. Notice how you feel, really recognise how you feel for a moment.

When you are in a state of appreciation you lean towards a loving state, happiness sets in and you can feel your heart expand. You see when we are grateful it is impossible to be upset, sad or angry. You can return to the negative emotions straight after you've left the moment of gratitude, but for that fleeting moment joy is all you can feel.

Gratitude can only give you positive emotions, so by making gratitude a regular practice we can really uplift our emotions. If you find yourself in a negative funk, or angry or upset about something, gratitude is a great way to help yourself shift out of the emotion. The more you practice it the more your mood can really shift.

We can really elevate ourselves daily with this. We improve our mood, we raise our consciousness, we begin to attract more. By sitting in a place of gratitude we allow more good to flow through to us.

Here are my 4 top Gratitude tips.

  1. Journal daily what you are grateful for. You can either write about it. Or if you are short on time or someone that doesn't journal easily, commit to writing 3 - 5 things daily that you are grateful for.

  2. Meditate on gratitude. Simply sit in stillness, close your eyes, breathe deeply and repeat silently in your mind…… ‘I AM Gratitude’........ This powerful mantra allows you to embody gratitude, and literally become gratitude.

  3. Take a walk in nature. Nature and its beauty is a wonderful way to elevate our mood and allow us to be grateful. Looking at flowers in their natural habitat, a tree that has stood growing for hundreds of years, the colours of autumn, when you look at these things it's hard to not feel grateful for their beauty.

  4. Tell someone you are grateful for them. This is a great practice because not only does it make you feel good, the person on the receiving end does too. You could tell a partner how grateful you are for them, or thank a shop assistant for their help in a store, or even write a letter to a company acknowledging an employer. All will make you and them feel amazing.

To all who read this blog, I am truly grateful to you xx
